Is your conservatory too hot?
What are your options to be able to use your conservatory in hot days.
Install a reflective foil insert between your polycarbonate panels. This helps however it does reduce the amount of light you get into your conservatory and it is a very, very tedious job to install.
Install blinds, however expect prices from anywhere from £2k to £8k, this helps but it is an expensive solution for the heat reduction gained.
Install a good quality reversible ceiling fan; this has the option of pushing hot air down from the ceiling in the winter and drawing it up to the ceiling in the summer. However when it is really hot all you are doing is moving around hot air.
You could install an air conditioning unit however this does have its drawbacks, to be useful enough to actually cool your conservatory it will no doubt be much noisier than you will like as it pretty much kills your peace and tranquillity.
You will have no doubt realise that all of the above solutions have their faults and really are not ideal as you are actually trying to overcome a design fault as your conservatory construction choices were such that it was not built to be used all year around.
There is one more solution and that is to install a new conservatory wall frame and roof onto your existing base. This would consist of fitting a solar reflective glass roof, consider a roof hatch and have a few full sized window openings in your conservatory wall frames plus a double door you pretty much have the optimum design to use your conservatory all year around.
It is very easy to buy a cheap conservatory however it is much harder to find a supplier of a well designed conservatory unless you opt for quality over price.
