The main benefits of a glass conservatory over a polycarbonate conservatory are as follows:-

A glass conservatory is perfect when you wish to use your conservatory all year round as polycarbonate can be very hot in the summer and cold in the winter.

You get much more light through a glass conservatory and also the room that abuts the conservatory.

Polycarbonate conservatory roofs are very noisy when it rains; this is a lot less of an issue when you fit glass to your conservatory roof.

You have considerably less solar glare with a glass conservatory roof therefore easier on the eyes when you are reading.

Glass conservatory roofs can be designed so your furniture does not fade with the ultra violet rays form the sun.

Glass can be toughened and as a result is much more secure than polycarbonate which can be removed with a hot key or sharp knife.

Give a glass conservatory roof is 60 times heavier than a polycarbonate roof it ensures you are actually buying a top quality structural glazing and solid foundations rather than rather than running the risk of being sold inadequate foundations supporting structurally inferior trade window frames.

Better quality foundations are less likely to crack or subside and better quality structural glazed wall frames dramatically reduce the likelihood of leaks from the windows or the roof.

Glass conservatories when designed with solar reflective coating reduces heat build up in your conservatory by up to 75%, therefore you no longer have to endure conservatory temperatures over 90+ degrees on warm days.

In summary glass is more expensive general an extra couple of thousand pounds however if you want quality that lasts then a glass conservatory offers a more effective and lower risk option.

What are your options to be able to use your conservatory in hot days.

Is your conservatory too hot?

What are your options to be able to use your conservatory in hot days.

Install a reflective foil insert between your polycarbonate panels. This helps however it does reduce the amount of light you get into your conservatory and it is a very, very tedious job to install.

Install blinds, however expect prices from anywhere from £2k to £8k, this helps but it is an expensive solution for the heat reduction gained.

Install a good quality reversible ceiling fan; this has the option of pushing hot air down from the ceiling in the winter and drawing it up to the ceiling in the summer. However when it is really hot all you are doing is moving around hot air.

You could install an air conditioning unit however this does have its drawbacks, to be useful enough to actually cool your conservatory it will no doubt be much noisier than you will like as it pretty much kills your peace and tranquillity.

You will have no doubt realise that all of the above solutions have their faults and really are not ideal as you are actually trying to overcome a design fault as your conservatory construction choices were such that it was not built to be used all year around.

There is one more solution and that is to install a new conservatory wall frame and roof onto your existing base. This would consist of fitting a solar reflective glass roof, consider a roof hatch and have a few full sized window openings in your conservatory wall frames plus a double door you pretty much have the optimum design to use your conservatory all year around.

It is very easy to buy a cheap conservatory however it is much harder to find a supplier of a well designed conservatory unless you opt for quality over price.
